This is what Wikipedia says about it..." is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year. It is celebrated from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November, or about halfway between the autumn equinoxand the winter solstice. It is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals, along with Imbolc, Beltane and Lughnasadh."
It is pagan myth that this is the day the veil is the thinnest between living and the dead; traditionally it is the celebration between the two seasons! I love that. Celebrating the end of the active, busy harvest time (summer), and preparing mind & hearts for the quiet season (that's what I call it!) of winter; so it's not, for me, about worshipping dead things, witches or even the candy...for me it's about preparing my mind & heart for entering into the quiet of my soul.
Have an amazingly blessed Samhain friends!
Love & Grace.
